The differences and advantages and disadvantages between active speakers and passive speakers

The essential difference between active speakers and passive speakers is:
The active speaker integrates power amplifiers and sometimes even decoding preamplifiers, while the passive speaker without integrated power amplifiers is a pure speaker.
The advantages of an active audio system are:
1. The convenience and worry free feature of built-in amplifiers eliminates the need to worry about the combination of speakers and amplifiers. If you have not operated it yourself, even experienced audiophiles cannot be certain that the combination of an amplifier and speaker is definitely suitable. The active speaker skipped this step, and the manufacturer's choice of matching is more stable.
2. Easy to push, the previous active speakers mostly use electronic frequency division. It does not require much power to drive the speaker, while passive speakers use a physical frequency divider. Compared to power, the function of a frequency divider is to make the sound we hear more layered.
If electronic frequency division is done well, it can even achieve better results than physical frequency division, but the cost is high and it is basically not done on the market.
Shortcomings of active speakers:
1. The upper limit is lower than passive
It cannot be said that the performance of the active built-in amplifier is poor. The performance of the speaker is closely related to the amplifier's performance. However, it is actually difficult to install an amplifier inside the speaker that can maximize the speaker's power. Because the interior space of the speaker is too small. The difference in the upper limit of listening sensation is still very obvious.
2. Lack of flexibility and playability
Due to the built-in amplifier inside the box, the flexibility and fun of using different amplifiers to achieve different sound performances are lost. Additionally, it is also an important point. After all, there is only one power amplifier provided by an active manufacturer, while passive manufacturers have many options.
Summary: In fact, the shortcomings of active speakers can be overcome to a certain extent, but the technical difficulty is high and the cost is also very expensive, so they are not made on the market.
