Tips for using wireless microphones

1.How to prevent and avoid interference from external signals on wireless microphones
Before choosing a wireless microphone, it is important to first understand the transmission frequency of the local TV station and avoid any mistakes when selecting. If conditions permit, high-density wire mesh or iron sheet should be added at the top and around the building during construction to shield and isolate external wireless signal interference. Alternatively, the SQUEICH knob on the receiver can be used to suppress the interference signal (but this has an impact on the receiving distance of the microphone).
2.How to use antennas correctly to ensure signal stability
When using multiple sets of wireless microphone systems from the same series, it is best to use an antenna splitter if possible to minimize mutual interference between the antennas on the original receiver; Alternatively, the wireless microphone receiver can be kept at an appropriate horizontal distance to ensure good reception conditions between each receiver and avoid mutual interference between frequencies, in order to obtain better wireless signals.
3.How to identify a wireless microphone in use
When using two or more handheld wireless microphones of the same model at the same time during a performance, in order to prevent accidental operation, different colors should be marked on the bottom of each wireless microphone (a place that is not easily blocked when holding the microphone), and the channel corresponding to the microphone on the mixing console should also be labeled with the same color as the microphone or marked. In this way, even if the wireless microphone is taken incorrectly, the operator can promptly correct it. In addition, a colored microphone dust cover can be used as a marker, which not only improves sound quality but also serves as a microphone marker, killing two birds with one stone. To prevent misplacement of lavalier wireless microphones, each microphone transmitter can be assigned a number or color. Prior to the performance, a designated person or device should be assigned, and when exchanging usage, it should be arranged by a dedicated person.
4.How to prevent possible silence during performances
During performances, singing actors always alternate between using handheld wireless microphones. Some actors may unconsciously turn off the power of the wireless transmitter or turn on the mute switch of the microphone, causing the microphone to be in a mute state. This can result in an awkward situation where the next actor using the wireless microphone has no sound from the wireless speaker, catching the operator off guard. In general, when the power supply of the wireless microphone transmitter is turned off, the transmitter working display light on the wireless microphone receiver will turn off. If the operator can frequently check the wireless receiver indicator light when exchanging microphones, the problem will be discovered in a timely manner. However, if the mute switch of the wireless microphone is turned on, it can only be monitored by the operator using headphones during program alternation. To prevent wireless microphones from producing no sound, the mute switch should usually be fixed with adhesive tape.
5.What kind of battery should be selected for wireless microphone transmitters
To ensure the normal use of wireless microphone systems, it is necessary to use batteries with sufficient energy, and it is best to choose alkaline 9V batteries. At the same time, the battery level should be confirmed before purchase and use.
6.How to know early whether the transmitter battery energy is sufficient
Most V-band wireless microphone receivers do not have a transmitter battery level display function. To prevent the phenomenon of audio signal distortion caused by insufficient battery power, operators can use the PFL pre listening function of the mixing console to monitor the signal of the wireless microphone with headphones during normal use. If the signal noise of the microphone channel slightly increases, the battery should be replaced immediately.
7.How to replace batteries during performances
The best way to replace the battery during a performance is to turn on the "mute" switch on the mixing console channel, so that the wireless microphone is in a mute state. If the mixing console does not have this function, you can turn off the output level of the wireless microphone receiver, then turn off the transmitter power, replace the battery, turn on the transmitter power, and then restore the output level of the receiver; Alternatively, turn off the input gain of the mixing console or use the Line/MIC selector to switch the input signal. After replacing the battery, turn on the console and reset the input gain or selection key.
